About Us
E. Wharton & Co. offers literary first editions of the 19th c. through the present, featuring women writers, original women's rights material, items related to women and women's issues, as well as decorated trade bindings, cookery titles and, occasionally, movable and pop-up books. Established in 1979, the firm is named for author Edith Wharton who, as a writer of exceptional ability and range, suggests the abundance and variety of talented women writers. We have handled archives of Elizabeth Bishop, Clara Barton, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, among other women significant in American letters, and developed collections of the works of contemporary writers such as Amy Clampitt, Edwidge Danticat, Anne Tyler and Wendy Wasserstein.
Sarah Baldwin, the owner, is a member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers.
