[NP]: Michael Peich, [ca. 1974]. First edition. 1/75, though not called for, signed by Richard Wilbur below his name at the inside. Card: single sheet folded to 4 x 10-7/8", woodblock of a nativity scene at the front, below "Season's Greetings / from Charlee & Richard Wilbur". Fine. The poem consists of four stanzas of eight lines, with the repetition of "And every stone shall cry. / And every stone shall cry Ñ" the pivot of each stanza. Like much of Wilbur's verse, "A Christmas Hymn" is adroit, moving and deceptively simple in its rhythms and lyrics. A lovely piece altogether. (Item ID: 13312)
